When the trust has been broken in your relationship, how do you take steps to restore it? In this video we explore this potent topic which was submitted by one of our viewers. In our experience, trust is simply a byproduct of seeing and feeling the results of consistent actions that are congruent with agreements and commitments we have made together. Trust does not grow overnight. Instead, for trust to grow in our relationships, it requires time. And over this period of time (where are actions consistently match our agreements) an organic sense of safety and trust grows. How to repair broken trust begins with feeling ALL of our feelings (anger, grief, sadness, fear), cultivating acceptance for what has happened (not the same thing as having wanted it to happen), opening to the possibilit...

In such cases what can a person do? 1. Change the behavior. The first thing that a person can do is to change their behavior. In other words, stop cheating immediately. Apologizing for the behavior means nothing if the behavior continues. So changing the behavior is the first step. 2. Be consiste...

All work is conducted through relationships, and the key to relationships is trust. Yet trust is constantly being broken in the workplace. Sometime's it's in spectacular ways—CEOs cooking the books, workers laid off through no fault of their own, coworkers actively sabotaging others' work. But far more common, and more insidious, are the small betrayals we all have been guilty of, or subjected to, or both—things like gossiping, missing deadlines, taking credit for other people's work. Any betrayal, large or small, can end up sapping our energy, commitment and creativity. The problem is people have no idea how to even begin restoring trust. Which is why Dennis and Michelle Reina's new book is so welcome. They offer a proven, straightforward seven step process that can be used by anyone who...

When someone has lied to you, it can make you sick to your stomach. You may still have to work with them. How do you restore trust once it has been broken? Well it won’t be easy and it won’t happen quickly. It is disorienting when trust has been broken. It is sobering to face future interactions with the person that betrayed your trust. Here are some concepts to consider: Never trusting and always trusting are inappropriate. Some people behave in very untrustworthy ways and you need to cautious in your interactions with them. Build a respectful and fair reputation, make it clear you will trust and verify. Be absolutely and consistently trustworthy in your interactions. Set a high standard of conduct. Coach yourself to express acceptance and supportiveness to the damaged partnership, and look for something you can appreciate. Try not to be sour. Openly and consistently express cooperative intentions and set compelling cooperative goals to move forward with the work and in the relationship. So, periodically engage in trusting actions, test the waters, and make yourself slightly vulnerable with your actions and comments. Experiment with increasing dependence on each other’s resources, skills, talents, budgets, projects, activities, events, information, and expertise. Create opportunities for interdependence. Studies reveal that more than two-thirds of relationships end upon the discovery of a lie or an act of betrayal. But if you are stuck with them, and must work with them, you need to get started reestablishing the trust now. These suggestions rely on taking the risk…just be sure it is a “calculated” risk. How to repair broken trust begins with feeling ALL of our feelings (anger, grief, sadness, fear), cultivating acceptance for what has happened (not the same thing as having wanted it to happen), opening to the possibility of forgiveness, and then both of you taking reliable action steps to strengthen your love. All of this is quite a vulnerable process and requires a willingness to fully show up and be emotionally transparent. Thank you to the person who submitted this topic. If you have a topic you would like us to explore on camera, feel free to share it here: http://www.dailyrelationship.com/submit-a-topic-2/ Big News: we just extended the Early bird rate of $199 for our new 10 Agreements Program. In this video Ayida Honor and Lenon Honor discuss things that a person can do to rebuild trust in a relationship. Trust is such an important part of relationships and there are times when trust is betrayed. For many people infidelity or cheating is something that makes it very difficult to trust. In such cases what can a person do? 1. Change the behavior. The first thing that a person can do is to change their behavior. In other words, stop cheating immediately. Apologizing for the behavior means nothing if the behavior continues. So changing the behavior is the first step. 2. Be consistent. It is not enough to change behavior. One must be consistent. Being consistent builds trust because the longer a person is able to uphold their commitment to their partner the more trust their partner will have. 3. Be open and honest about why the cheating occurred in the first place. Open dialogue should take place between couples and there must be an agreement about what needs to be done moving forward. It must also be understood that there are situations where trust never returns to what it was prior to the cheating taking place. This must also be discussed as a possibility. Recently I posted on facebook page a message that got a lot of attention. I posted that after 16 years I am more attracted to my wife than I was when we first met. My wife and I decided to do a video discussion to talk about what people can do to keep the attraction alive in their relationship. Some of the things that my wife and I do to keep the attraction include: 1. Humor and laughter. I do my best to make my wife laugh as much as possible. This keeps our relationship enjoyable and the enjoy-ability translates into attraction. 2. Communication about what is attractive to you and what is attractive to your partner. 3. Staying in shape. Many people let their physical health go once they are in a relationship. It is important for a man and a woman to take care of their physical condition not just for themselves but also for their partner. 4. Time and space. The person who cheated must understand their partner must be given space and time to heal from the trauma that occurred when they were cheated on. http://www.MarriageGuy.com/ --- How To Rebuild Trust After An Affair (And Get Forgiveness) One bad decision, one mistake… and everything comes crashing down like no tomorrow. Maybe you were drunk, or maybe for the first time in ages, you felt wanted, sexy, and alive. At the time, it felt right, but you didn’t even think about the consequences… what if my spouse found out? What would that do to our marriage? Could we ever recover from an affair? But your spouse did found out and now your marriage is shattered. And now you don’t know what to do. Hi, my name is Brad Browning and I’m YouTube’s top marriage expert. And in this video, I’m going to talk about how to recover from an affair and regain the trust of your spouse. Trust is one the most important things in any relationship. Without it, there is no relationship. If you don’t trust your spouse, then everything they say and do will have a huge question mark attached to it… and it’s impossible to grow in such a tenuous situation like this. So if the trust is broken, then both parties need to dedicate 100% of their time and effort into rebuilding that trust up again. For some couples, this can be easy, but for others, it can be the most difficult thing in the world. So in this YouTube video, I’m going to outline several tips that you can use right now to start help healing the wounds and rebuilding that trust that’s been lost. Tip Number One – Make sure your apology was genuine. Nothing will matter unless your partner truly and deeply feels that you are sorry. And if it means apologizing a million times until your partner accepts it, then so be it. But here are some tips… make sure you stare at your partner in the eyes every single time you say that you’re sorry. And don’t just say “you’re sorry” and move on – be empathetic. Say something like, “I know how you might feel right now and I’m genuinely devastated about it.” Your partner might snap back at you, yell at you, and scream at you, but at no point should you snap back. This will only make matters worse. Right now, your partner feels awful so you need to allow him or her to go through these emotions. You can also try holding your partner’s hand while you apologize… doing so will make your apology feel more authentic, and will help comfort your spouse at the same time. And finally, promise your spouse that you will never, ever make that same mistake again. Tip Number TwoThink about trust all the time. Right now, your partner doesn’t trust you. And every little mistake that you make moving forward will be magnified by about 10. So that means even little errors can set your partner off. So that’s why the subject of trust is something that has to be in the forefront of your mind all the time. Even something as simple as not calling your spouse back when you were supposed to can set off alarm bells… or even forgetting to pick up that carton of milk from the grocery store when you said you were going to. Right now you need to focus on the most important person in the world to you: your spouse. Failing to do so will result in a much slower recovery. So for every single action you do moving forward, think about your spouse and how it will affect him or hers trust for you. Tip Number Three – Go above and beyond for your spouse. Until trust has been fully rebuilt, you’re going to have to go the extra mile for your spouse. That means spending extra time with him or her, doing the chores around the house, bringing the kids to school, even giving your spouse flowers or an “I’m sorry” gift can go a long way. Just make sure that you don’t smother your spouse with attention. It’s important that you give him or her the time to breathe in the wake of your infidelity. Do your best to find out what your partner needs and then do it. Over time, with enough good behaviour, your spouse will see that you’re genuinely sorry and trust will be built over time. By the way, if you want to learn some more tips and tricks that will help your spouse forgive for almost anything, then head on over to my website, www.MarriageGuy.com and watch the free video presentation there. In that video, you’ll learn subtle, psychological secrets that will compel your spouse to not only forgive you, but love you just like the day you two got married. They offer a proven, straightforward seven step process that can be used by anyone who has been betrayed, who has committed a betrayal, or who wants to help someone work through a betrayal. While there have been many books on recovering from betrayal in personal relationships, this is the first book to focus specifically on the workplace. It is firmly grounded in the Reinas twenty years of research on trust and their work with dozens of clients on trust-related issues. There are separate chapters on each of the Reina's Seven Steps for Healing, complete with trust tips, reflection questions, and practical how-to advice. And the Reinas share many stories of how trust had been broken and restored in all kinds of settings.

Financial crisis and the EU: how to restore trust Rebuilding Europe's Financial Confidence How can Europe rebuild confidence in its financial markets and institutions? The role of the European Central Bank is discussed, especially in the EU institutions and its monetary policy of quantitive easing. Since the US Federal Reserve Bank changed tack and raised interest rates for the first time in nearly a decade, the European Central Bank (ECB) and its quantitative easing (QE) strategy – a trillion-euro programme to buy bonds – have come under more scrutiny. “The ECB policy is working, QE is working,” insisted Benoît Coeuré, Member of the ECB's Executive Board. “We've seen a tremendous improvement in the Eurozone's capital markets and banking markets; funding costs are down, funding volumes are up and accelerating. We want to make QE work on a continuous basis,” he said. The financial sector, which is still trying to cope with the fallout from the 2008 global market meltdown and the Eurozone crisis, is looking for policy and regulatory clarity and cooperation among national governments, Coeuré observed. The daunting challenge: coping with the banking and capital markets union and new banking rules aimed at preventing another crisis. Banking chiefs are worried that banks will have a hard time turning a profit. Axel A. Weber, Chairman of the Board of Directors, UBS Group, went so far as to criticize QE: “We understand that there may be no limit to what the ECB is willing to do, but there is a very clear limit to what QE can and will achieve. That’s the problem – that monetary policy has largely run its course. Further stimulus by reducing interest rates even more into the negative, hinted at by ECB President Mario Draghi in a Frankfurt press conference the day before he appeared at Davos, would be “tampering with fate,” reckoned Weber. “There is a risk that you may actually drive cash out of the economy if you start taxing deposits.” On top of that, some banks remain under a cloud, with worries about their non-performing loans (NPLs) lingering due to persistent worries about contagion. Italy and Portugal have been the focus of attention. Italy has considered setting up a “bad bank” to clean up bank balance sheets and is also trying to turn around sentiment by pushing forward structural reforms. Playing the role of responsible technocrat, Pier Carlo Padoan, Italy’s Minister of Economy and Finance, echoed Draghi’s assertion made earlier in the same Davos session that the central bank should not have to shoulder all the work and that national governments have to pursue structural changes in tandem. Italy is reforming its labour market with some success and is poised to take measures to bolster the banking sector, Padoan noted. “My point is that on the impact of monetary policy, there is a division of labour here. National governments know very well that, to make the most of [the ECB’s] positive policy stance, we need to do our homework.” The minister conceded that Italy should have set up a bad-bank mechanism a long time ago. The Spanish took that course in response to the country’s banking crisis three years ago, Francisco González, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Banco Bilbao Vizcaya Argentaria (BBVA), recalled. “Spain has bitten the bullet for about three or four years by putting the house in order and we have taken very good decisions in mainly scrapping the failing banks and now the system is working much better,” he explained. But his country’s banks are still not fully out of the woods, he said. Banks have to take the low-interest, low-inflation conditions seriously. “Apart from this, there’s a big threat from digital disruption,” he warned, remarking that Europe’s banks are behind the curve on fintech innovation. This debate was developed in partnership with CNBC. Speakers: Geoff Cutmore, Francisco González, Lord Jonathan Hill, Pier Carlo Padoan, Benoît Coeuré, Axel A.
